Dr. Nidhi Shah
Medicine is my expertise. Caring for people is my purpose.
I am a physician, but also a mother, a daughter, and a caregiver. I understand the challenges of caring for someone you love and navigating a complex healthcare system. With nearly two decades of experience in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine, my career has encompassed patient care, physician leadership, and healthcare quality improvement. My work has been recognized with several professional honors, including the Physician Partner in Care Award and the Bridge Award.
The greatest teachers in my life have been my patients and their families. They have taught me that good medicine goes beyond clinical expertise — it is about listening, understanding what matters most, and caring for the whole person. This shared philosophy inspired us to establish Nova MD Care, where we are committed to providing thoughtful, personal, and unhurried care that helps patients and families navigate healthcare with clarity, confidence, and compassion.

Treating others with the compassion we would want ourselves
I am a physician, but also a daughter, caregiver, and first-generation doctor. Witnessing the emotional, physical, and financial impact of my mother caring for my grandparents inspired me to specialize in Geriatric Medicine and Hospice & Palliative Medicine. My approach to medicine is guided by a simple principle: “Treat others the way you would want to be treated.”
Since 2019, I have practiced Palliative Medicine in the New York metropolitan area. My background includes Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine, along with additional training in Bioethics. I previously served as an Assistant Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. My professional recognitions include induction into the Leo M. Davidoff Society for excellence in medical student teaching and a 2026 nomination for the Dr. Melville G. Magida Award. My experiences have reinforced my belief in compassionate, patient-centered care that respects the needs of both patients and their families.
